Passport lost or stolen

Last updated: 29/01/2012 // Loss of passport should be reported to the local police where you are at the time of the loss, as well as to the Embassy.

When reporting it lost at the Norwegian Embassy, you should submit the following:

1. Some other form of Norwegian identification, such as a Norwegian driver’s license, a Norwegian credit/debit card with photo and signature, a Norwegian birth certificate, etc.

2. Completed notification form in case of loss of passport ("tapsmelding").

Please note that if your passport has been reported lost or stolen, it is no longer a valid travel document. If you find a passport that has been reported lost, you must hand it in to the Embassy or the police in Norway.

Emergency passport

You may obtain an emergency passport at the Embassy in Amman, Jordan. Emergency passports are not machine-readable. You will need to submit the same application forms and documentation as for a normal passport.

Collection of Norwegian passport:

Your new passport may be collected at the Embassy (by prior appointment only). The new passport will normally be ready for collection 2-3 weeks after the application is lodged with the Embassy. Remember to bring your old passport when you come to collect the new one.
