Visa to Norway, Finland, Iceland and Denmark

08/06/2010 // The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Amman processes Schengen visa applications for visits to Norway, Denmark, Finland & Iceland. Visa applicants must submit their application in person during the opening hours of our visa section: Sunday-Thursday 10:00am-12:00 noon.

 

Please note that the Embassy cannot start processing a visa application before all the required documents have been received.


The visa fee is set to 52.00 JOD for adults and 31.00 JOD for children aged 6-12. Payment is made cash and in person at the Embassy. Applicants below 6 years of age do not need to pay the visa fee.
 

Please note that the processing of a visa application may take several weeks. For this reason, the Embassy urges applicants to apply well in advance of planned travel dates.


 

Supporting documents

 

1. Application for Schengen visa:

Download the application for Schengen visa here. The application should be filled out in English and submitted in person at the Royal Norwegian Embassy. For applicants to Denmark, a supplementary application form (in addition to the Schengen visa application) is needed. Download the supplementary form here. Iraqi passport holders need to submit a duly filled and signed questionnaire when they travel to Norway. Download the questionnaire here. 2. Your passport or travel document:

Make sure that your passport is valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended stay in Norway/Schengen states and that the passport has a blank page for a visa sticker. Please make sure to provide us with a photocopy of the personal data page of your passport as well as all previous stamps, Schengen visas and residence permits existing in your passport. Photocopies of your Jordanian family book and ID are also required.

3. For Iraqi passport holders:

Make sure that your passport is G-series passport.

4. One recent color photo (45mmx35mm):

The photo must be less than 6 months old taken with a white background and with good contrast and quality. The photo should be printed on normal photographic paper. The Embassy does not accept scanned photos.

5. Evidence of occupation/student status:

Proof of your current occupation (e.g. an original letter from your employer) should be provided. Please make sure that the letter is on headed paper, contains a contact name and number and is duly signed & stamped. If your employer will be financially responsible for you during your stay(s) in Norway/Schengen states, the employer should confirm this in the letter.

If you are a student: An original letter from your college/university confirming your status/ attendance, reason and period of stay, is required.

6. Invitation/Evidence of accommodation:

Please note that any invitation letter/document must be less than 3 months old.

A. FOR BUSINESS TRIPS: 

  • Original letter of invitation from your foreign business partner explaining the nature and duration of stay applied & who will support you during your stay. Please make sure the letter is printed on headed paper, contains a contact name and number and is duly signed & stamped. However, you may also be requested to submit the original letter before the visa is granted. For applicants travelling to Denmark it is required that the host of the visit fills out a special invitation form. Download the form here
  • Employment letter from your local company stating the nature, duration of your visit, your full name & title. The letter should be printed on headed paper and duly signed & stamped.
  • A translated certificate from Chamber of Commerce for the applicant and the company.
B. FOR A VISIT TO YOUR FAMILY/FRIENDS:

A Signed, original letter of invitation (evidence of accommodation), accompanied by a copy of your friend/family member's passport and residence permit (if applicable), is required.

Applicants for Norway may also be requested to submit a guarantee form signed by the sponsor in Norway. The sponsor must bring the guarantee form to the local Police station in Norway. If you do not submit a guarantee form, you must provide evidence that you have sufficient funds to support yourself during your stay (e.g. original recent bank statements minimum 3 months). Please note that cash is not accepted.

For applicants travelling to Denmark it is required that the host of the visit fills out a special invitation form. Download the form here.  

C. FOR MARRIED COUPLES:

In addition to all above mentioned requirements, original marriage certificates in English must be included with all applications involving married couples.

D. FOR TOURISM:

If you are not visiting anyone in Norway/The Schengen states, you should submit a travel plan outlining where you intend to go (which countries, cities, etc, how you intend to travel) and where you intend to stay. You will be asked to provide proof of booked accommodation for the entire stay. This should include a confirmed and paid hotel reservation, stating the names of the guests, date of arrival and departure, as well as the hotel name, phone number and address. You should also submit evidence that you have sufficient funds to support yourself during your stay (e.g. original, recent bank statement). Please note that cash is not accepted.

Please note that people travelling to Norway/ Denmark/Finland/Iceland for tourism will have to provide a reservation confirmation issued directly by the hotel clearly stating the visa national’s full names, the dates of check-in and out, the hotel address and contact details. Bookings made via a reservation centre or travel agencies will no longer be accepted.

7. Medical & Travel Insurance:

Applicants who have been granted a visa must submit a health insurance which in order to be valid in all Schengen states should have a minimum cover of EUR 30,000. The Embassy recommends that you do not pay for any insurance policy before you know that the visa has been granted. 

8. A confirmed return ticket:

A return ticket must be submitted with the departure and return dates, E-booking confirmation is also acceptable. The Embassy recommends that you do not pay for any ticket/confirmation  before you know that the visa has been granted.

9. Applicants under 18 years of age:

  • Underage children require parental consent if they intend to travel with only one parent, the other parent must produce a written consent certified by a notary public. If only one parent has guardianship of the minor, he/she must submit the court judgment.
  • For underage children travelling with their teachers, friends, relatives etc., a letter signed by at least one of the child’s parents or legal guardian that gives consent for the nominated person to travel with the child within a certain time period must be submitted.
