Please note that the Embassy can not start processing a visa application before all the required documents have been received. Visa applicants must submit their application with the supporting documents in person during the opening hours of our visa section: Sunday - Tuesday 10:00am-12:00 noon.You have to make an online application and book appointment if you want to apply for a visa or a residence permit. If you have been approved a visa, you must submit your passport at the Embassy between 01.00 pm - 02.00 pm from Sunday to Wednesday to receive the visa-sticker.
SCHENGEN VISA
Visa applicants who wish to apply for a visa at the Embassy in Amman must lodge and pay for their applications on the internet before submitting their supporting documents to the Embassy.
Please read the information below carefully before filling in your application. No tickets should be booked until you have been informed that the visa has been granted.
The information below only applies to short-term visas for up to 90 days. If you intend to work or stay more than 90 days (in any six months' period), please contact the Embassy, as you may need a Work / Residence Permit.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Visa applications to the Embassy in Amman must be lodged and paid for on the Internet using the secure Visa Portal. Appointments to submit supporting documents to the Embassy can also be booked on the portal. Applicants can check the status of their applications online.
HOW TO APPLY
The first time you use the Visa Portal, you must register as a user with a username and a password. When you have registered, you can make an application and pay for the visa. If you need a Schengen Visa to Norway again, you can simply log on, use your last application as a template and only change details such as travel dates, new visas, etc.
BOOKING
After paying the fee you will receive an email confirming that the application has been registered successfully. Attached to this email is a PDF document which is a cover letter. This document needs to be printed out, dated and signed. Please remember to bring this letter with you to the embassy for your scheduled appointment.
GROUP REGISTRATION
Applications can be registered individually or in groups on the Portal. A group may consist of 2 - 8 applicants. Group applicants must be of the same nationality and must travel together. All members of the group need to attend the appointment at the embassy.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
The travel insurance has to have a medical cover of at least EUR 30,000 and be valid in all Schengen countries.
Please note that NHS cards and European Health Insurance cards is NOT sufficient. The travel insurance needs to cover the entire period that the visa is valid. Applicants who have insurance through their employer should make sure the employer confirms this in the ’employer letter’ (see ’Supporting documents’).
It is your own responsibility to make sure that you have valid travel insurance on every subsequent trip and a failure to do produce evidence of this may result in rejection when attempting to cross the Schengen border. Spouses, descendants and dependant ascendants of EU/EEA nationals do not have to submit travel insurance. However, the Embassy strongly recommends that all applicants travel with valid travel insurance. Please note that the European Health Insurance Card does NOT cover repatriation.
PROCESSING TIME
The processing time of a visa depends on each individual case. However, applicants should always apply several weeks before their intended journey.
Some cases can be handled by the Embassy in Amman and some cases will be handled by the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI).
APPLICATION FEE
The application fee must be paid electronically on the secure Visa Portal after filling in your application. The application will not be handled by the Embassy before the payment has been successfully processed.
Applicants who are exempt from paying the visa fee will have their fee immediately refunded (electronically) once the relevant documentation has been presented to the Embassy.
The application fee for short-stay visas to all Schengen states, including Norway, is EUR 60 with effect from 1 January 2007.
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
When you have submitted the application and paid the fee on the Visa Portal, you must submit a number of supporting documents. Please note the Embassy cannot start processing the application before all these documents have been received.
Please note that any letter/document must be less than 3 months old. E-mails and scanned documents are not accepted.
1. Visa Application for Schengen visa.

Applicants submitting Visa application online for Denmark, Finland & Iceland are requested to print a copy of the application which to be submitted to the embassy.
2. Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended stay in Norway and must conatin at least two blank pages
(one to affix the visa sticker and one for the stamp of the border control authorities). Copies of the personal data page of your passport as well as all previous stamps, Schengen visas and residence permits existing in your passport is required.
3. One resent color passport size photo (45mmx35mm).
The photo must be less than 6 months old, have a light background and be of good quality and contrast. Scanned photos are not accepted.
4. Evidence of occupation / student status
Proof of your current occupation (e.g. an original letter from your employer/School). Please make sure that the letter is in ENGLISH on headed paper, contains a contact name and number and is duly signed.
If your employer will be financially responsible for you during your stay(s) in Norway / Schengen states, the employer should confirm this in the letter. Owners of private business need to submit a certificate of registration issued by the Jordanian Chamber of Commerce in ENGLISH.
If you are a student: An original letter from your college/university in ENGLISH confirming your status/attendance, reason and period of stay.
5. Invitation / Evidence of accommodation
For business trips
5. Original letter of invitation
(less than 3 months old) from your foreign business partner explaining the nature and duration of stay applied for and whether it involves single, double or multiple entries (and evidence of accommodation, e.g. confirmed hotel reservation). Please make sure the letter is printed on headed paper, contains a contact name and number.
Applicant need to confer the following checklist of needed supporting documents made for official and/or business visit to Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland.
For business and/or cultural trips to Denmark:
Denmark has introduced special invitation forms that the Danish hosts should fill in and forward to the applicant. The applicant should then enclose the filled-in invitation along with the other supporting documents to the Embassy in Amman.

For a visit to your family/friends
5. Signed, original letter of invitation/evidence of accommodation
(less than 3 months old), accompanied by a copy of your friend/family member's passport and residence permit (if applicable). Applicants may also be requested to submit a GUARANTEE FORM signed by the sponsor in Norway. If you do not submit a Guarantee form, you must also provide evidence that you have sufficient funds to support yourself during your stay, e.g. original recent bank statements in ENGLISH (minimum 3 months). Please note that cash is not accepted. Copies of your Jordanian family book translated to ENGLISH and ID are also required.

For familial trips to Denmark:

For tourism
5. a A travel plan outlining where you intend to go
(which countries, cities, etc, how you intend to travel) and where you intend to sta should be submitted if you are not visiting anyone in Norway / the Schengen states. You will be asked to provide proof of booked accommodation for the entire stay. This should include a confirmed and paid hotel reservation, stating the names of the guests, date of arrival and departure, as well as the hotel name, phone number and address.
5. b Evidence that you have sufficient funds to support yourself during your stay (e.g. original, recent bank statement in ENGLISH)
should also be submitted. Please note that cash is not accepted.

6. Travel insurance
Visa applicants must submit a health insurance with their application, which in order to be valid in all Schengen states should have a minimum cover of EUR 30,000. Click here to see the list of insurance companies accepted to issue travel insurance.
7. A confirmed return ticket
A return ticket must be submitted with the departure and return dates. E-booking confirmation is also acceptable. The Embassy recommends that you do not pay for any ticket/confirmation before you know that the visa has been granted.
Additional documents for certain applicants:
Applicants under 18 years of age:
• Underage children require parental consent if they intend to travel with only one parent, the other parent must produce a written consent in ENGLISH certified by a notary public. If only one parent has guardianship of the minor. He / She must submit the court judgment
.
• Underage children travelling with teachers, friend, relatives, etc. need to submit a letter in ENGLISH signed by both parents that gives consent for the nominated person to travel with the child within a certain time periods.
• Original (or Certified True Copy made by competent authority) birth certificate in ENGLISH (stating both parents' names).
• Original & Copies of both parents' passports.
• If one of the parents has sole custody of the child, original (or certified true copy) proof of this must be submitted.
For married couples:
In addition to all above mentioned requirements, original marriage certificates in ENGLISH must be included with all applications involving married couples.
Please note that in some cases further documents and guarantees may be required - for any applicant.
Applicants who fail to produce the required documentation before and after the visa has been granted will be refused a visa.
Norway's Schengen partners will be informed of any visa rejection.
