Jazzcode visits Jordan

Last updated: 22/12/2011 // What does jazz, business and teamwork have in common? What lessons can be learnt from the fine interplay of jazz? These were the main questions when Carl Størmer and his ensemble of professional jazz musicians visited Amman this week. The quartet performed the innovative lecture Jazzcode: New Answers for New Times, a combination of live jazz, inspiration and insights on teamwork.

In association with The Scandinavian Business Club, The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Amman invited fellow Scandinavians and Jordanian friends to a unique lecture by jazz musician Carl Størmer at the Hyatt, Wednesday 21st of December.

Carl Størmer is a true multitasker: He is formally educated in both jazz and business and is a graduate of Manhattan School of Music, Columbia University and Harvard University. Together with his team of four Nordic jazz musicians he used jazz to illustrate good teamwork and drew parallels for professional teams.

“Playing jazz is special because it requires a special trust between the team members. The team must perform on short notice and often under time pressure. This is also true for the business world” said Carl Størmer during the lecture.

Later in the evening Størmer and his team attracted 200 guests for a similar performance for the Business Leaders Campaign in association with INJAZ at Le Royal.
