The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly discourages Norwegian citizens and/or persons with permanent residency in Norway from travelling to Syria. Norwegian citizens and/or persons with permanent residency currently dwelling in Syria are strongly encouraged to leave Syria.
In relations to this, we have only limited ability to provide consular assistance to persons still in Syria. We therefore encourage Norwegian citizens and/or persons with permanent residency to contact our Embassy in Amman or alternatively our Embassy in Beirut for further information and consular assistance.
Consular services for Norwegians in Syria
The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Syria has suspended its services to the public until further notice due to the security situation in the country. The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Amman will handle all inquiries regarding visa affairs and consular services.
Who can apply for a visa at the Royla Norwegian Embassy in Amman?
Since there is currently no Norwegian representation operating in Syria or Iraq, Syrian and Iraqi citizens have to apply for visa and other permits for travel to Norway, Denmark or Iceland at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Amman, in addition to Jordanian citizens. In certain cases admittance to submit an application at the Norwegian Embassy in Beirut may be given. Please contact the Norwegian Embassy in Amman or Beirut for enquiries.
