2011 Municipal and county election

Last updated: 21/06/2011 // Norwegians in Jordan can vote in advance for the 2011 Municipal and county election, at the embassy in Amman.

There will be an opportunity for Norwegians to cast their vote in advance at the embassy in Amman during the period 1 July - 2 September 2011. Received votes will be sent consecutively to the election committees in the voter’s home county (or municipality he or she was last resident). It is important that the votes are casted in time to arrive at the Election Board in the voter's home municipality before election day on Monday 12th September at 09.00pm.

We also refer to information to vote recipients in the booklet "Guide for vote recipients" that is provided by the embassy (in Norwegian, English and French) with special focus on the following:

1. Norwegian citizens who have reached 18 years during the election year have the right to vote if they have ever been registered in the Norwegian Population Register as resident in Norway.

2. People who are not Norwegian citizens, but have turned or turn 18 during the year of election, have the right to vote in the municipal and county council election if they:

- Either have been introduced in the Norwegian Population Register as resident in Norway for the last three years before election day, or
- Are citizens of another Nordic country and have been registered in the Norwegian Population Register as resident in Norway no later than June 30th 2011.

Voters who have been registered in the Population Register as residents in Norway at any time during the last 10 years prior to Election Day, will automatically be entered in the electoral register in the municipality where they were last registered. Voters who are not automatically added in the electoral register can apply for it;
- Either by filling in the appropriate field on the cover envelope, or by separate letter to the Election Board in the municipality.

In 20 municipalities, there are experiments with reduced voting age down to 16 years. In 10 municipalities, it is this year trials of electronic voting.
