In talks with the Norwegian Prime Minister Stoltenberg and Foreign Minister Støre, King Abdullah emphasized the need to end the suffering of the Palestinian people and fulfill their rights with the establishment of an independent state on their national soil. According to King Abdullah II, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the root cause of conflict in the Middle East. The King stressed the need for immediate measures to lift the blockade imposed by Israel on the Gaza strip, as well as the need for an international independent investigation of the Israeli raid on the Freedom Flotilla. King Abdullah also expressed his appreciation of Norway as chair holder of the international donor committee AHCL, supporting the Palestinian people.
In a meeting with Norwegian Minister of Environment and International Development, Erik Solheim, the topic of discussion was the possibility of cooperation in the renewable energy sector. Also present at the meeting was chief executive officers of Norwegian Energy companies. King Abdullah stated that he hopes Jordan’s skills in this field can be upgraded by benefiting from Norway’s expertise. Imad Fakhoury, Minister of State for Mega-Projects, presented the opportunities available for foreign investors to join Jordan’s infrastructure mega-projects through strategic partnerships.
