Norwegian Foreign Minister visited Jordan

20/01/2010 // Jonas Gahr Støre, the Norwegian Foreign Minister visited his Jordanian counterpart; Mr Nasser Judeh, Saturday 16. January. Støre started a regional visit that will take him to Israel, The Palestinian Territory, Egypt and Abu Dhabi in Jordan. He is visiting the region to discuss official efforts to resume peace negotiations.

The main focus for the talks between the two foreign ministers Judeh and Støre was therefore the Israeli-Palestinian issue. Mr. Støre said in a press conference held at the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Saturday, that the Norwegian Government sees the coming months as curtail and important for the resumption of negotiations with regard to a peaceful path. Mr. Nasser Judeh said that he appreciated the initiative and involvement of the Norwegians in making peace in the region. He added that Norway has a long history of support for the peace process in the region, the Palestinian people and UNRWA.
