The Norwegian delegation will be headed by Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, who together with Prime Minister Salam Fayyad also is hosting a breakfast meeting with the foreign ministers of the Arab members of the committee and Secretary-General Amr-Moussa of The League of Arab States, in preparation for the AHLC meeting.
The AHLC keeps track on how donor countries interact with the Palestinian authorities and how the support they provide is handled. The committee’s last meeting was held in Madrid in April this year, and showed the donors willingness to support the implementation of Prime Minister Fayyad’s government building plan. The plan aims to finalize the state-building project by the end of 2011.
Norway has chaired the AHLC since its creation in October 1993, in the wake of the Oslo process. In addition to Norway, the AHLC consists of 16 other member states and some invited bilateral donor countries.
