Secretary General of the Council of Europe in Amman

On his recent visit to Amman, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thorbjørn Jagland, expressed the Council's willingness to enhance cooperation with Jordan, highlighting the Hashemite Kingdom’s key role in the region. The Council of Europe and the Lower House of Parliament are jointly organizing a workshop on the Constitutional Court, crucial for Jordan's current reform march.

The Secretary General, a former Prime Minister to Norway, met with King Abdullah II of Jordan, Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh, Senate Speaker Taher Al Masri and the Speaker of the Lower House, Abed Kareem Doghmei.
Before heading for Ramallah and Tel Aviv, Mr. Jagland will also meet the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas.
