The occasion was the reception of 12 children from Gaza, all in need of artificial limbs. The Norwegian King was especially influenced by the sight of the children who awaited them in the hall when they arrived.
King Harald V spoke about the need for peace in the Middle East and the present status of the Arab countries. He commented that the road of democracy that the Arab countries are working for is still uncertain and that we do not know where it will lead. While we are watching what is happening in many Arab countries, the children and civilians are paying the price. When asked by reporters about the situation, the King praised the relations between Jordan and Norway, especially the Jordanian efforts amidst the suffering.
The new center sent hope in the hearts of the children to return to life more qualified and more determined to get out of the destruction they have suffered.
